On Location at Bliss Bakery

Last week we pulled baker hours to document the brand story of Bliss Bakery in Peachland. There is nothing better then being on location with friends. Here are a few snaps in between shots.

I had to convert this one to black and white.. this shirt was bright green and was sneakin into frame a few times during the night. Just say no to green.

Tim staying in touch with Perez. What you can’t see.. is that he is just staring at wall. He was like this for over 15 minutes. Weird.

Walking buckle first.

Our art director hard at work.. finally gets the joke in the family circle comic.

Tim standing in for a test shot. I am not certain but I am sure he is thinking of me without my pants on.

Sure enough that head got stuck.

A portrait of a tired guy.

Who says you can’t take a good portrait with a 15mm?

Self portrait.

Thanks to the wicked team at Bliss + James Calder + and Tim Feeny. The photos are looking great.

… walking around and just observing with a camera. this image was taken in downtown winnipeg years & years ago. somewhere close to broadway and the fort gary hotel i think. a very crappy film scan, but puts me back into the time I shot this.. just for a second.  i also know for certain I did not respect this image as much then as I do now.

Final Update – #Movemberphotosession #NoThiessen Campaign

A challenge was put down a couple of days ago, and unfortunately I was not able to hit the target. I did have some fun along the way, and hopefully provided a little awareness to the cause.  I still wanted to end this with some kind of positivity so our studio has made one more donation to the OKDG team this morning.

I also will be glad to honour the 4 $250 corporate/headshot sessions for the rest of the month. To qualify you still need to donate directly to Movember by hitting up this link:

http://ca.movember.com/mospace/326094/

Once you put in your deposit drop me a note to schedule the session. Either on twitter @dahul or email.

Thanks again for all the notes and re-tweets for this effort. I would love to try something like this again…perhaps a little differently next time.

#Movemberphotosession #NoThiessen Campaign Update

Long Story Short: Challenge to raise $1000 for @_ds and the OKDG team to support Movember (http://ca.movember.com/) and to have some fun.

There is no way I can grow a moustache so I figured I would support a friend that can…… and after some twitter chit chat with @OKDigitalMedia we came to a place where I donate $1000 to the team and he promised not to tweet for the month.

Originally the challenge was directed at me to donate $1000. That was not really in the cards. But I thought I  would try and raise the money by offering 4 photo sessions at $250/each. The deal with tellinatellina (CFO) was it had to be new bookings. Seemed fair.

Ideally I was pushing to shoot everything tomorrow, but getting 4 extra booking spots in for the #Movember #NoThiessen campaign is posing to be a problem. I have 2 legacy bookings for tomorrow that I need to hit, but do have 10:30 available… and could also do later in the afternoon after 2:30.All of this will be on location around the Landmark area in Kelowna.

I thought I would open up this up a little wider. There are 4 sessions available. $250 each. Think headshot business portrait session. If you book directly through the Movember website by donating directly ($250) to Dustin or his team it will secure your spot and I will contact you to schedule a time within the next 4 weeks if tomorrow doesn’t work. – To be safe if you do donate please send me an email at info@darrenhull.com to let me know. If by some kind of fluke we actually get some interest, I still need to cap this at four. So its kinda first come first serve.

To book you have to use this link by end of day Thursday November 4th. (tomorrow) : http://ca.movember.com/mospace/326094/ - When you make your donation, you will be asked to submit a comment. Please remember to tag that with: “#Movemberphotosession #NoThiessen”

You will receive a tax receipt and you would have secured yourself some great photos.

It might sound odd…. but if you want to donate to one good cause and another  dumb one – all at the same time – This is it… and it might be the only time your photo session comes with a Charitable Donation Receipt.

Remember this is the link to secure your session: http://ca.movember.com/mospace/326094/

Disclaimer: In no way has @_ds or any of the OKDG team members actually endorsed the #NoThiessen part of this campaign

What’s Up

Not sure how we got to November already, but man time has flown by. Things have been nutty, and we are slowly working away completing projects from the last 3 months. These are hard times for me. My rush is on the future, and this is always the time of year that has me swamped with the past. I have been enjoying reviewing the work in detail – I have seen some great things + and more importantly I know what I need to stop doing. There is also this thirst for knowledge this time of year. I find myself on the phone or connecting with people I respect/admire, and these conversations fill my head while processing & editing. More ideas and renewed inspiration seems to be the result.

From the archive: This has to one of the first photos I have ever shot, and growing up in Winnipeg this was a familier scene from the driveway.

U2 – View from the (RED) Zone Vancouver

We made it to another U2 show. This time in Vancouver for the 360 tour. BC Place was their last stop for the rest 2009. The tour continues back up in 2010. Here a few photos taken with a point and shoot and a vid of a few clips taken with a kodak ‘flip’ cam copy thing.

Bif Naked

Bif was always someone I wanted to shoot. I had the chance to shoot her live, but still wait for a more personal non live shoot.
